November Book Report

Genre: Mystery

Due Date CHANGE = Monday, January 5th.

Choose ONE of the options below for your November Book Report:

1.) In a ONE page essay, invite one of the characters to dinner and plan an imaginary conversation you would have with this character. Be sure to talk about what you would serve for dinner and WHY? Maybe you could create your own murder mystery (if it relates to your book’s plot) with dialogue like the board game “Clue.”

2.) Design a travel brochure that illustrates the setting of your book. Remember, setting is the TIME and PLACE in which a story BEGINS. Use pictures from the internet or drawings to make your brochure more visually appealing to your audience. But, please be sure to describe any pictures that you decide to use (3-5 sentences for each).

3.) How skilled are you with using Microsoft Power Point? If you feel that you are skilled enough, create a power point presentation for your classmates that displays information about your book’s setting, characters (major & minor and static &dynamic), plot (which includes 5 major events), conflict (internal or external), themes, and examples of foreshadowing.

4.) Imagine that you are a detective hired to solve your book’s mystery. Pretend that you are going out of town for the job. What things will you need to pack? Think carefully, for you will be there for a week, and there is no going back home to get something! In writing, you must keep a journal of your week and how you went about solving the mystery. Be sure to label each day.

*ALL Book Reports MUST be passed in with the following: 1.) your name 2.) the title of your book 3.) the author of your book (spelling counts!) 4.) genre of your book 5.) this handout with the numbered option you chose CIRCLED.

** EXTRA CREDIT: Any student(s) who submits their work BEFORE the due date will receive 5 points added to their final grade for this assignment.
