My name is Mr. Tarnopol and I am the Computer Science Teacher for the George R. Austin Intermediate School for the Freetown-Lakeville Public Schools.  Mr. Tarnopol’s Technology Toolbox is the website that the Computer Lab students will use to begin many of their Computer Lessons.  The network technology in the school will allow the students to work on projects in their classrooms that they have begun in the computer lab.

Our activities for the first few weeks of school will include learning about the Computer Lab, understanding how to use the school’s technology to enhance our learning experience and learning about the United States of America’s Constitution and Citizenship Day.  Other activities during the year will include many keyboarding tasks, writing skills, Tessellations (pattern art) and computer art projects.

WebQuests are specialized projects that show the students how to learn about specific subjects while giving them the skills necessary to research their own projects.  We will be making use of WebQuests and Internet Scavenger hunts to learn about the Dewey Decimal System and Thanksgiving.

The Internet is a wonderful piece of technology that has expanded our horizons.  A vast amount of information and entertainment is now available at our fingertips.  With this wonderful resource comes a responsibility to use it safely.  During the course of the year we will be learning skills that will make this experience a safer one.  Please feel free to use my Internet Safety page and visit the links on it for the NetSmartz and i-Safe programs.

Welcome to Mr. Tarnopol’s Technology Toolbox.  I hope we have a wonderful year and both students and teacher learn a great deal.
