Text Box: Dear Families,
First grade homework reinforces skills learned in the classroom as well as helps to build a sense of student responsibility. It is a big part of the home-school connection! Thank you for supporting your child’s learning at home!

Math Homework
Starting in September, first grade students have math homework just about every night, Monday through Thursday. Math homework is an integral component of the Everyday Math program. Math homework should be returned the next school day.
Spelling Homework
Starting in November, students will also have nightly spelling homework. Spelling homework will alternate bi-weekly. The first week will be copying spelling words three times each. The second week consists of students writing a sentence each night including one of the spelling words. Spelling homework should be returned each Friday, or the last day of the school week.
Reading Homework
Throughout the year, all students are asked to participate in the monthly PACT (Parents and Children Together) reading program. The recording sheet should be sent back to school at the end of each month.
At-Home Projects
Several times per year, families will be asked to assist students with at-home projects that correspond with our first grade curriculum.
