We read the Very Hungry Caterpillar and sequenced the story on our own. We learned about caterpillars and how hungry they can be! We learned the stages of a caterpillar’s life and how it changes to a butterfly. We WATCHED our own caterpillars change into butterflies. We learned about words like cocoon, metamorphosis, and pupa. We learned butterflies can eat oranges and sugar water from flowers with their proboscis. We learned ladybugs come from grubs, start as yellow eggs and then create a hard shell to become a ladybug! We learned insects have 3 body parts and 6 legs. We explored the dry, hot, sandy desert and the many animals and plants that live there. We explored the damp, warm rainforest and the many plants and animals that live there too! We compared the plants and animals of the desert to the rainforest. We learned reptiles have dry, scaly skin and “sunbath” to keep warm at night. We created our own reptiles, cactus, desert and rainforest! We discovered Habitats are Homes with Moose Hill Education coming to our school and helping us explore the habitats in our area. We discovered how bees help flowers through pollination. We made loving gifts for Mother’s Day. We explored the school to see the many art works of our fellow students in the Art Fair, including our Recycled Sculptures. We continue to pattern, rhyme, sequence and use our imagination every day! We celebrated Jamie’s birthday!
