Linking Verb and Helping Verb Notes
11-17-08

Linking Verb - connects a noun or pronoun with a word that identifies or describes it.

Ex. She is pretty.

Helpful Hint : Replace the verb in a sentence with is, am, was or were - if the sentence still makes sense, the verb in the sentence is a linking verb.

Helping Verb - is added before another verb to make a verb phrase.

Ex. I am going to the mall.
