Open Response Strategies
1) Read the question CAREFULLY. At least 2 times.
2) Answer ALL parts of the question.
3) Your response should be 2 to 3 paragraphs long.
4) Make a checklist:
a) describe...
b) explain ...
c) support your answer
5) Be sure to include "TAG" (title, author and genre) in the very first sentence of your response.
ex. In the fictional short story "Seventh Grade" by Gary Soto...
6) Use at least FOUR quotes/examples from your reading to support your response.
7) EXPLAIN how the quotes/examples you chose support your response.
8) Use at least 2 vocabulary words CORRECTLY in your response.
